BRAKE OVERHAUL FOR THE 1967

Going Through the Brakes of My ’67 deVille

When it was time to change the brake fluid in my 1967 deVille and put on the new tires, it was a great opportunity to go through the brakes of the car as well.
An Old Problem with the Front Self-Adjusters
I have always had trouble with the front self-adjusters. This time I wanted to try again, armed with the knowledge I gathered during the brake rebuild on my ’66.
The Fix: Turn the Plate Slightly
The solution is simple once you know it. You have to turn the upper anchor plate slightly until the self-adjuster arm can reach the adjusting wheel. I readjusted everything, and the brakes should now work as they are supposed to.
Fresh Fluid and New Tires
To finish the job, I bled the whole system and installed the tires I wrote about in my last post.
